Credential Scope

Certification Should Make Competence Clear—Not Make Authority Claims Larger.

RSM credentials organize education, competency evidence, assessment and continuing development. They do not replace trade licences, professional designations, permits, municipal approval or site-specific professional judgement.

RSM authority framework

Trust is built through visible methods and limits.

These principles guide how RSM organizes information and communicates with the public, professionals, municipalities and partners.

01

Published learning requirements

Each pathway should explain what participants study and what evidence or assessment is expected.

02

Defined scope

Credentials identify the knowledge area they cover and the work, authority or approvals they do not grant.

03

Continuing development

Where applicable, continuing education supports current knowledge and stronger practice.

04

Public understanding

Homeowners and organizations should be able to understand what an RSM credential means without being misled about legal or regulatory status.
